What is a hyrax

A hyrax is a small, herbivorous mammal that belongs to the order Hyracoidea. Hyraxes are native to Africa and the Middle East, and they are known for their unique appearance and behavior.

Hyraxes resemble rodents in some ways, but they are actually more closely related to elephants and manatees. They are typically around the size of a domestic cat or rabbit, with short legs and a stout body. They have small, rounded ears and a short tail, and their fur is generally brown or gray.

Hyraxes are social animals and live in groups, often in rocky habitats or near cliffs. They have special adaptations, such as tough foot pads and strong nails, that allow them to climb and cling to vertical surfaces. They are also able to communicate with each other through a variety of vocalizations, including grunts, whistles, and shrieks.
